Response from World Child Cancer regarding recent publication on excess mortality due to COVID-19
World Child Cancer Foundation – The Netherlands is not the sponsor of the publication “Excess mortality across countries in the Western World
Hello everyone,
We’d like to introduce you to Alice Gichemi, a dedicated paediatrician with a profound commitment to making a difference in the lives of children battling cancer. Alice’s journey began when she worked in the paediatric oncology department during her postgraduate studies. Witnessing the challenges these young patients face inspired her to take action.
Pediatric cancer remains a daunting challenge in many parts of the world, with mortality and morbidity rates far from where they should be. Alice’s fulfillment comes from contributing to better outcomes for these brave young souls. She understands that this is a long and tough journey, but she firmly believes that we can make progress, one step at a time.
What makes Alice’s journey even more inspiring is the incredible mentors who have guided her in this path. Pediatric oncology is a field full of possibilities, with countless discoveries waiting to be made. By joining a fellowship program and continuing to learn, Alice hopes to make her small contribution to this field, ultimately benefiting countless children and their families.
Alice’s mission aligns perfectly with World Child Cancer’s vision of a world where every child with cancer has equal access to the best possible treatment and care. We are proud to sponsor Alice’s journey and invite you to join us in supporting her cause.
