Lions Club Maarn-Maarsbergen took action. On Tuesday, October 18th, Pediatric Oncologist Prof. Dr. Gertjan Kaspers spoke at De Twee Marken in Maarn about ‘A world without childhood cancer’. His lecture focused on improving the survival rates of children with cancer, not only in the Netherlands but also worldwide. The lecture was organized by Lions Club Maarn-Maarsbergen.
After the lecture, Partnership Manager Pauline Geskes from World Child Cancer NL talked about the foundation’s mission: ‘A better world with equal opportunities for care and cure for children with cancer’. World Child Cancer NL raises funds to support the Outreach program of the Princess Máxima Center, among other initiatives.
Following the lecture, Ruud Voogt (President of Lions Maarn-Maarsbergen) presented a check of €2,500 to World Child Cancer NL. The Lions Maarn-Maarsbergen’s wish is to use the donation for travel and accommodation expenses for the Outreach team.
In early November 2022 and February 2023, a specialized nursing team from the Princess Máxima Center will visit the twinning location Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre in Moshi, Northern Tanzania, to initiate an educational program for nurses in pediatric oncology. The contribution will support these visits and efforts positively.
